Our editorial and data method

1. Start with an authoritative source

We prefer Singapore government and public-institution pages, followed by the provider’s own official website. Aggregators, reviews and social posts are not used as the sole evidence for a production listing.

2. Separate providers from programmes

A provider record establishes the organisation and its official channels. Each programme then carries its own audience, subject, level, format, location group, schedule status and price evidence.

3. Publish only supported facts

Unknown does not mean unavailable; it means we do not have defensible evidence. We leave prices blank instead of estimating them and use “check provider” when a current timetable is not reliably reproduced.

4. Acquire licensed and first-party data responsibly

For suitable catalogues, we use datasets released through data.gov.sg under the Singapore Open Data Licence. Imported listings retain the dataset title, publisher, record period, access date and licence link. We write original summaries rather than copying source descriptions.

The broad discovery tier comes from SkillsFuture Singapore’s 2025 MySkillsFuture Course Directory. We require a TGS reference, provider identity and supporting source detail; favour records registered from 2023 onward; exclude university degrees; remove duplicate references; and cap each provider’s representation. We do not reproduce learner ratings, attendance counts, source descriptions, fees or availability. These records link to the official course page and remain out of search-engine indexes until independently enriched.

Where a provider publishes a current class timetable on its own official site, we may model individual sessions when the level, subject, location, day and time are explicit. We keep those records out of search-engine indexes and retain only facts useful to families. Teacher names, room numbers, capacity, enrolment counts, availability flags and zero-price placeholders are discarded.

5. Treat fast-changing data differently

• Provider identity and general programme facts are reviewed at least every 180 days.
• Prices and recurring schedules are reviewed at least every 90 days.
• Dated schedule records are removed or replaced after their published end date.

Every listing displays its source and last-check date. Price and schedule facts have their own date because they may age faster than the programme description.

6. No rankings or vacancy claims

Classes.sg does not publish ratings, reviews, “best” labels or paid placement rankings in this MVP. A listed programme is not evidence of an available place, a confirmed intake or suitability for a particular learner.

7. Corrections and provider claims

Corrections need an official source. Provider claims are manually checked and do not grant automatic editorial control. We do not ask claimants to send identity documents through the public email path.
